The Fondation Louis Vuitton, an extraordinary space for art and culture located on the edge of Paris, will open its doors this October. The journey from concept to reality has taken over 10 years, with renowned architect Frank Gehry realizing the striking design. Inspired by the Grand Palais glass ceilings, and other innovative structures of the 19th century, the construction of the Fondation Louis Vuitton involved unprecedented technological challenges. Comprised of 3,600 glass panels to form the 12 curved sails which resemble a cloud nestled between the trees of the Bois de Boulonge, the structure finds balance between tradition and modernity. The building boasts eleven galleries, education facilities, event spaces, and a 350-seat auditorium to promote contemporary arts both in France and internationally.
