While his Plectrum Electrum with his band 3rdEyeGirl has yet to be released, Prince has shared that he already has another solo album in the works. In a conversation with Minnesota Star Tribune, he speaks on the difficulties of putting out the enigmatic record, implying getting in contact with top executives at Warner and how slowly wheels turn in the record business.
“Every No. 1 song, every Top 10 song, every song in the Top 40 is at least six months old,” he said. “We should be able to make music and put it out now.”
While he didn’t give away any potential release date or album title, the project will feature records like “This Could Be Us,” a ballad inspired by a meme of him and Apollonia riding on a motorcycle, clearly a scene taken from the 1984 movie Purple Rain. Additionally, we can expect “The Gold Standard”, a remix of “Funknroll”, and a rap song featuring Rita Ora. Earlier this year, the legendary artist revealed taht he had signed with Warner Bros. for new music a reissue of Purple Rain, set to hit the scene this summer. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this album.
