Believe it or not, in about four months, Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d. city will celebrate its second anniversary. As we already know, we can expect K. Dot’s sophomore project to have arrived until then. In a conversation with Houston, Texas radio station 93.7 The Beat’s Devi Dev, the Compton native spoke on the pressure of following up to a “classic” album and also offered a little insight on his new album:
“I don’t take that word ['classic'] lightly. I know the excitement. They really appreciated. I respect it 100 percent because I put a lot of work into it. I really can’t focus on the past and what was said then,” he added. “You’re only as good as your last piece of work, so now it’s about what’s right now and me putting that same 110 percent that I did with the last one.”
Regarding the concept of his next LP, Kendrick had following to say:
“I don’t know,” he says. “I couldn’t tell you that. I’ll know exactly what it is once I’m done with the music.”
