Coming later this year to both current- and next-gen platforms, as well as PC, is the latest installment in EA‘s Battlefield franchise – Battlefield: Hardline. In a major departure for the long-running first-person shooter franchise, Hardline ditches the tried-and-true combat settings of games past and focuses on domestic crime with “cops and robbers” gameplay. Taking cues from popular TV crime dramas, players will assume the role of Nick Mendoza – a young Miami police detective caught up in a world dominated by corrupt cops and countless criminals. In addition to the single player experience, the game will be home to the online multiplayer that fans know and love – this time with an apropos focus on the teamwork needed to pull of the perfect heist or score a big time bust. Battlefield: Hardline drops October 21 while a closed multiplayer beta is already available for PlayStation 4 and PC.
