Will Dr. Dre Buy the LA Clippers?

Now that LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been completely banned from the NBA, a sale of the team seems like a viable option and a logical conclusion. Though Sterling is currently resisting the idea of selling the team, if three-fourths of the NBA owners unite to agree to ax Sterling as owner, the Clippers may be forced into a sale. Although there is currently no concrete decision regarding future ownership of the LA team, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill and media guessing games from moving into motion.

From Diddy to Mayweather to Oprah, many have been cited as possible purchasers of the team. Now, you can add LA’s own Dr. Dre to that roster. When questioned by TMZ outside of BOA Steakhouse in LA, Dre had the following exchange with a TMZ reporter:

TMZ: As the wealthiest hip-hop star do you have any interest in purchasing the clippers at all?

Dre: Absolutely.

TMZ: Yeah? You’re going to throw your hat in the ring?

Dre: Thinking about it, yes. Absolutely.

No word yet on whether any sort of sale is being proceeded with anytime soon, but we’re sure we’ll all see the laundry list of potential owners continue to increase.
