If you’ve read Kanye collaborator and producer Evian Christ’s quote on Kanye West wanting “something that sounds a bit like Otis Redding, a bit like Mobb Deep,” this report by Billboard should make sense. Billboard published a piece breaking down “everything we know” so far about Kanye’s next project, and in it an undisclosed source further pulls back the curtain on the album’s details. The outlet writes:
“A source says that as of two-weeks ago, there’s 12 songs on the album. Out of six heard, it’s “mostly a mixture of soul samples and tamed ‘Yeezus’-esque darkness… nothing abrasive.”
As far as collaborators and features go, Billboard also compiled and curated a list of “potential players” that may also be working on the album alongside ‘Ye. The roster of potential contributors include the likes of James Fauntleroy, Young Thug, Rick Rubin, Q-Tip, James Blake, 808 Mafia, DJ Mustard, Young Chop and more.
