Despite being conceptually simple, the debut collection between Maison Martin Margiela x Converse First String generated a great deal of hype and aligned perfectly with MMM’s philosophy. A follow-up collection has equally garnered a strong level of interest with the same proven equation albeit with a leather base. In a similar approach to the original canvas-based range, the new leather offerings will further build on the aesthetic of distressing with both a Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and a Jack Purcell Low. One of the issues expressed by previous wearers of the canvas version was the lack of cracking and distressing with some models due to the paint soaking thoroughly into the material. However with leather, the paint effectively sits atop the material, yielding a more straightforward wear in process that yields results almost instantaneously. The collection is available now at select retailers globally.
