As one could guess, a G.O.O.D. Music showcase is bound to (pun unintended) be, well, good. While G.O.O.D. Music founder and leader Kanye West performed with Jay Z at the Samsung Galaxy Experience, his label mates, which included Teyana Taylor, CyHi, Travi$ Scott, Pusha T and Big Sean, performed to an energetic and enthusiastic crowd at Brazos Hall. The event, presented by Yahoo, went into the late hours of the night, offering short but lively performances and complimentary drinks. Some of the showcase’s best performances came later in the evening: Travis Scott’s set felt like a punk show as he hung from the rafters and jumped into the crowd, while guest King Louie brought out Katie Got Bandz for their collaborative song “Pop Out,” as well as her banger, “In The Field.” (Chance The Rapper was also present in overalls. Yes, overalls.) Big Sean chose the hits from his catalog, performing his verses from “Clique,” “All Me” and “Mercy.” On the latter he brought out Pusha T, whose appearance resulted in cheers and applause from the crowd. After Big Sean finished, Pusha T finished off the showcase with live renditions of “King Push” and “Grindin.”
G.O.O.D. Music was definitely in the building last night, and although Mr. West never made an appearance, the group undeniably brought the ruckus.
