New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. has filed a lawsuit against Converse accusing the latter of infringing on sensitive trademark properties. News of the filing comes as a response to Converse seeking to assert trademarks on classic canvas shoes with rubber toes and other features at the International Trade Commission. More specifically at issue are New Balance’s PF Flyers sneakers and Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, both bearing a similar canvas build with rubber toes. Claiming to have sold more than $50 million USD of PF Flyers to date, New Balance is seeking a “declaration of non-infringement” against Converse and expressed disappointment in the two parties’ inability to agree to a resolution. Converse has yet to respond to the complaint. Stay tuned for further news regarding this dispute.
