As the days until the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 become numbered, snippets of the incredibly stacked soundtrack are slowly surfacing. Today, we present to you the latest artists to lend their talents to the project in the form of Charli XCX, Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend. The collaboration, titled “Kingdom,” is a dreamy, emotional ballad lead by the vocals of Charli while the dark and defiant lyrical content offers a unique juxtaposition with the tone of the song. Album curator Ella Yelich O’Connor aka Lorde has stated that her general intention with the project was to mix alternate time periods to produce the works distinct sound. It is no doubt that with the number of electric musical talents on this soundtrack, the resulting sound will be anything but ordinary.
