In a newly-released interview with Zach Schonfeld for Newsweek, Flying Lotus says he “should have been” on Kanye West‘s Yeezus. Speaking to Schonfeld about his thoughts on working with Kanye and Yeezus, FlyLo says he’s been “trying” to work with ‘Ye and that he’s reached out enough to where Kanye “knows where he’s at.” When asked directly about his opinion of the album in question, FlyLo gave the following response:
I should have been on it. It was kind of weird that I wasn’t. Just being totally real, not on some ego shit…. I was like, “They didn’t even call!”
That’s my favorite one of his albums. I really wish I was part of it. There’s a few things that came out that I really wish I was on. I wish I was on that. I wish I was on the Earl [Sweatshirt] album, the Doris album.
Considering how good Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar’s collaboration was, we can only imagine how a future Kanye collaboration would unfold. You can read the full Q&A piece here.
