It looks like last week was a great week for hip-hop and R&B, as three brand new albums all charted within the top five on Billboard charts. The Weeknd‘s Kiss Land, 2 Chainz‘s B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time and Janelle Monáe‘s Electric Lady all made significant sales in their debuting weeks. The Weeknd came in at No. 2 with an estimated 98,000 sold, 2 Chainz at No. 3 with 61,000 and Janelle Monae at No. 5 with roughly 49,000 albums sold, according to HITS Daily Double. Country singers Keith Urban and Luke Bryan took the other two spots in the top 5, Urban top the charts selling 103,000 copies of his album Fuse, and Bryan remains at No. 4 for the second week in a row with his album Crash My Party. Other notable albums to make waves last week include John Legend‘s Love In The Future (No. 10, 30,000 sold), Robin Thicke‘s Blurred Lines (No. 14, 20,000 sold) and Jay Z‘s Magna Carta… Holy Grail (No. 18, 17,000 sold).
