Jamie xx recently spoke with Japan Times ahead of his set at Fuji Rock festival suggesting that his recent productions will succumb to a mixtape. Amid working with band mates, Oli and Romy of The xx, Jamie’s also been in the lab with Four Tet, who’ll be featured in the forthcoming project.
“I’m just making loads of music basically,” he said. “Making it with some friends and with (The xx bandmates) Oli and Romy, and eventually it’s probably going to go into some sort of mixtape but I don’t know when it’s going to come out. It’ll just be ready when it’s ready.” Asked if he could name any names, he replied: “I’ve started a track with Four Tet.”
Currently on the road throughout Asia, Jamie’s schedule will bring him back to Europe throughout late summer before headlining at Manchester’s Warehouse Project alongside the likes of Hot Chip, Flying Lotus, Diplo, Disclosure et al.
