When Ridley Scott signs on his name to be director of a film, critics and viewers are likely to pay attention. Add to this the fact that Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy (responsible for the adaptations of No Country for Old Men and The Road) has decided to embark on his screenplay debut, it looks like we may have a formula for success in the latest film, The Counselor. The film includes a heavy-hitting cast that includes Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz, Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz and Natalie Dormer. Clocking in at only 44 seconds, the concise trailer highlights the story of a lawyer (played by Fassbender) who finds himself in a tough spot when he gets involved in a drug deal. While much of the film’s plot is still to be revealed at a later time, the short trailer showcases impressive cinematography that is enough to keep us in suspense until further details arrive. The Counselor is currently slated for an October 23, 2013 release date.
