Damascus swords were the inspiration behind Roberto Cavalli‘s latest collection in Milan, the banding, mottling and swirls of those blades forming the backbone of this season’s prints. Those Damascus swirls, too, were the reference points for jacquard patterns and embroidery that found their way onto suits, leather jackets and shirts. Evening looks, meanwhile, were infused with splashes of color — red, silver and black — that together with precise tailoring and doses of texture, served up the “sharp and charming masculine allure” Cavalli was after for Spring/Summer 2014.
