Last week Banksy‘s popular Child Labor mural was extracted from the wall of Turnpike Lane’s discount store in North London and relocated to Miami for Fine Art Auctions Miami’s upcoming sale. Expected to attract a bid of up to $700,000 USD, the now-infamous piece has suddenly been withdrawn from sale with three bids already in place. The high-end auction house declined to give reason, but did dispatch a statement saying “there are no legal issues whatsoever regarding the sale.” As the investigation continues on the thievery - one which has called upon the Metropolitan Police, British Government, and the FBI – the local community wait earnestly for the possible return of their artwork, while leading demonstrations in front of new murals in satire over the abduction.
