With assets totaling over $8 billion USD, the Swatch Group is not only Switzerland’s most capable producer of watches, it’s also the world’s largest. The group holds a roster stretching across the watch industry with some of the most influential and historically rich names in horology, including Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Longines, Tissot, Hamilton and Omega. Much of the modern watch industry owes its current presence in the marketplace to the innovations of these brands. And on September 13, Swatch will be hosting an exclusive exhibition and preview at the Park Avenue Armory with a selection of highlights from the legendary “Blum Collection” — a private collector’s watch collection containing thousands of historic and extremely valuable watches from the Swatch stable. Not limited to only production watches, however, the collection also includes a large number of extremely rare prototypes, hybrids and production variants none of which were never brought to market. Holistically, this uniquely makes the Blum Collection the most complete collections of Swatch watches in the world, serving as a running history of the brand itself. Expect this exhibition to be enthralling for both watch buffs, and horology historians alike.
