President Barack Obama has commented on Nicki Minaj’s claims that she will vote Republican in the forthcoming U.S. election. Young Money’s First Lady endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in her latest collaboration with Lil Wayne, “Mercy,” off of his recent Dedication 4 mixtape. Referring to Minaj’s line, “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy bitches is fucking up the economy,” Obama offered his thoughts on this matter in an interview with Florida radio station Power 95.3 by saying:
“Yeah, I’m not sure that’s actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there. [...] “I don’t think my daughters really listen to Nicki Minaj that much, but let’s face it, they are now hipper than me. There’s a certain point where your kids get old enough where they’re hipper than you are.”
The Pink Barbie also criticized Obama’s policy over healthcare reforms, after actress Yvette Wilson died of cervical cancer while struggling to raise healthcare costs. She tweeted:
“What’s sad is that when Yvette was bringing home the bacon, the gov’t was probably taking millions. On her deathbed though, #Nowheretobefound,”
“That should be a God given right! Even with Obama Care, too much involved. Just give FREE health care to all. @BarackObama what can we do?”
However, after hearing about Obama’s comments, she confirmed via Twitter that she was just being sarcastic with the lyric.
“Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… sends love & support,” she said. “Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question.”
If elected, Romney promises to undo Obama’s healthcare bill and return to a market-driven, paid-for system.
