The starkly contrasting black and white pattern of interrupting geometric shapes is collectively known as Dazzle; and while it may seem unlikely, it was actually an early form of naval camouflage employed extensively in both World Wars. While Dazzle effectively drew attention to the ship upon which it was painted, it also served as an illusion of sorts, making it difficult for enemy rangefinders to target and estimate the type, size, speed, or heading of the ship. This new video from Maharishi and Casio celebrates the unique Dazzle (or BAMDAZZLE in this instance) pattern used on their forthcoming collaborative G-Shock watch, to be released through the London designer label starting on June 14.
