G-SHOCK Proves Black Simply Never Goes Out of Style
The Japanese watchmaker returns with stealthy black-and-white makeups of the GA-2100 and more.
Coming up on the season of monochromatic mania, G-SHOCK is back with an all-black collection featuring a series of iconic watches plucked from the archive — just in time for tone-on-tone, cold-weather layering. The Japanese watchmaker has launched stealthy, high-contrast black-and-white makeups of the iconic GA-2100, GA-100, DW-6900 and more.
When your designs stand the test of time, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Instead, G-SHOCK continues its legacy by exploring color, bringing collectors shock-resistant iterations marked by thematic stories rooted in the brand’s heritage. Signaling to timelessness, the new series channels rugged minimalism as a concept. A glossy white dial and silver indices offset a jet-black case and strap, a stark contrast that underscores the intricate functionality of each model.
With this tonal execution, the streamlined profile of the GA-2100WD-1A and its signature octagonal bezel, the indulgently robust case of the GA-700WD-1A, one of the brand’s largest models available, and the classically rounded face, “Triple Graph” and front button of the DW-6900WD-1, released in 1995, are striking focal points highlighting G-SHOCK’s innovative design identity. Then there’s the GA-100WD-1A, famed for outstanding water and shock resistance, equipped with a three-dial face, an analog dial in the center and digital dials on either side that debuted in 2010. The GA-110WD-1A offers a steampunk-inspired analog-digital display that fuses a sense of nostalgia and visual verve.
Across the collection, the watches feature 20-bar water resistance, shock resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch (excluding the GA-110WD and GA-100WD, which feature a 1/1000-second stopwatch), LED backlighting and a countdown timer.
