The man who stood as one of the foremost driving forces behind Heuer during its formative and creative years, Jack Heuer’s legendary rule as CEO of the storied Swiss timepiece brand is marked by many significant advances, not the least of these which was the introduction of the Carrera in 1964. To celebrate Heuer’s achievements and 80th birthday this year, TAG Heuer unveils the aptly titled 2012 Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday Carrera. The commemorative watch gives nod to the innovation of Heuer himself yet also pays homage to the Carrera watch’s longstanding success and notoriety within the Swiss maker’s lineage. Reflecting its roots, a bold metallic silver sunburst face serves as the base for understated hour and minute hands as well as retro hour markers. Hints of red are seen on two sun dial hands, red chronograph hand and “Heuer” logo. Making use of the Calibre 17 movement, the 41mm Carrera case is paired with an elegant and refined metal strap that juxtaposes hits of both brushed and polished finishes. Expected to make a comprehensive debut at Baselworld 2012, the 2012 TAG Heuer Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday Carrera is expected to release in a limited run of 3,000 units.
