Joining the ranks of Bilal, Quadron, Exile, Elephant & Castle and more, Oakland-based producer Shortcircles is the newest signee to LA label Plug Research. Today, in honor of Valentine’s Day and lovers worldwide, Shortcircles is releasing his self-titled Plug debut.
Inspired by Teebs, DJ Shadow, ’50s jazz records and more, the EP is a gentle, rolling wave of sounds that both soothes and galvanizes. Shortcircles describes his music as a “peaceful sound. I try to make music that is as honest to myself as possible.” The EP is an exceptionally strong release and serves as an introduction to a producer we will hear a lot from in 2012.
