Ninjasonik - Turned Up
Brooklyn-based MCs/ruffians Ninjasonik are set to drop their No Swords or Masks EP on Decon
Brooklyn-based MCs/ruffians Ninjasonik are set to drop their No Swords or Masks EP on Decon March 6. Straddling the worlds of electro, pop punk, and rap music, Ninjasonik present a unique equation- they manipulate instrumental elements and tempos sometimes pushing their verses beyond the 140 BPM mark with their eyes fixated on the hooks (and there are plenty).
No Swords Or Masks firmly nails down musical ideas that Ninjasonik have explored on their previous releases. Bouncing comfortably between electro and rap, juxtaposed with a punk attitude gives edge to the EP that is amongst the most radio-friendly music released by Decon, the staunchly independent record label, production company, and idea shop responsible for recent releases by Gangrene and Pusha T.
Well regarded for their raucous stage show, Reverend McFly and Telli Gramz turn a keen ear to this record, incorporating production from David Sisko, Soundwaave, and Plain Pat among others. Lyrically, the duo has never been sharper- though subject matter primarily touches on women, partying, and partying with women- proficient wordplay and cadence align them with the best hip-hop spitters. Verses from Mr. Starcity, Ifsonive, Daniel Merriweather, Shyvonne & Johnny on The Rocks (of Rocky Business) seal the deal. No Swords or Masks will serve as an appropriate precursor to the coming full length on Decon, slated for Spring/Summer 2012.
