Alexander Wang isn’t afraid to build his latest collection by mixing monochromatic French chic, blackout military vogue, and rock & roll grunge, before finishing it with a bit of tousled bedhead. His Fall/Winter 2012 collection continues to cull from those inspirations towards creation of a full line that could only be best described as ‘skater meets vogue.’ Even with the robust overcoats, leather bomber jacket, and the carefully disheveled tailoring of his shirts and trousers, Wang is also evolving as a designer, offering an uncomplicated ready-to-wear suit for the first time. Regardless of the gritty urban sheen of the collection, it’s hard to disagree with Wang in that every guy really does need a suit.
