While growing up in London, one of the artists that Lianne La Havas was most influenced by was that of Philadelphia’s own Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, Jill Scott. La Havas has been vocal about that inspiration before, but in this new video piece with Billboard, she talks about the impact that Scott’s first LP, Who Is Jill Scott?, had on her and references one particular song on it that struck out to her. That song is “He Loves Me,” which she chose to cover in this session. As she tends to do so well, La Havas gave the track new life with this stripped-down, acoustic version.
