Santa Maria Novella was founded in 1612 in Florence, Italy as an apothecary for the church. The friars began producing a variety of herbs, essences and elixers, which came to be revered for their powerful healing abilities. Santa Maria Novella was founded on this legacy, and has since expanded their range of products to include soaps, colognes, hand creams and more. The company has opened yet another location, on Chance Street in the heart of London’s Shoreditch neighborhood, alongside menswear store Hostem. The new space recalls the brand’s roots in Florence with its frescoed vaults and marble worktops, not to mention their traditional manufacturing techniques. Santa Maria Novella’s collection of products also includes modern additions, such as body milks, shampoos and bubble bath, all of which are formulated from completely natural ingredients.
