Maison Martin Margiela for H&M 2012 Fall/Winter Collection Preview
Revival. Resurrection. Call it what you may, but as the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

Revival. Resurrection. Call it what you may, but as the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection unfolds today with an even further look into the inaugural range – the first impressions are that of a welcome revisiting to archival Margiela designs. Representing a carefully curated selection of some of the collective’s favorite pieces from previous seasons, each design from the forthcoming fall/winter collection retains a dual identity — one of pasts and one of the present.
On the eve of its official unveiling in New York tomorrow at the Mondrian SoHo, the Maison Martin Margiela designers welcomed an early look into the designs for the season. If there is anyone who knows collaboration, it is the Maison Martin Margiela team. Dressed in simple, stark white lab coats and preferring to let the pieces speak for themselves, members of the Margiela house spoke to the thought processes leading up the partnership with H&M as well as elaborating on the creative team, not individual, who played a role in each design. Augmenting what at the surface could be perceived as simply another fast fashion collaboration, the project digs deeper into the psyche of the Margiela house by introducing some of the best from years past to a new generation effectively sheding renewed light onto each item. Inside each archival piece lives a detail of each piece’s original season — a subtle reminder of the history held therein.
