After Watch the Throne successfully went up for purchase without being leaked online first, it only makes sense for other artists to follow the digital-first sales method that Kanye West and Jay-Z used. It turns out that the first to step up to the plate and do such a thing will be none other than Lil Wayne. In hopes that his performance at the MTV Video Music Awards next Sunday, August 28, will be electric enough to get the world talking, the long-awaited fourth installment of Wayne’s Tha Carter album series will be released online immediately following the ceremony. The album will become available at 12 a.m. EST on iTunes, Amazon and other sources that sell authorized MP3 downloads. But unlike Watch the Throne, physical copies of Tha Carter IV will be in stores later on that same day. The big question is, will the album leak before next Monday?
