Sony has just announced the official release of the long-awaited VAIO Z Series. Weighing in at under just under 1.2kg, the lightweight device packs a powerful punch with a Core i7-2620M 2.7GHz processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, and up to a 256GB SSD. Adding to its functionality, the notebook enables up to four screens (including its own display and its HDMI output) to be active at any given time for optimal use as a desktop workstation. Furthermore, the device features an extended battery life (up to 7 hours from the standard internal pack and up to 14 hours with the sheet battery), backlit keyboard and choice of DVD or Blu-ray drives. The notebook is currently on pre-sale through Sony UK with prices starting at £1,434 (approximately $2,286 USD).
