Back in 1946, the Newark Eagles were at the top of Negro League Baseball with their World Series victory over the Kansas City Monarchs in a historic 7 game series. Although the team would only be around for another two years, they surely did make history having produced the first African-American player in the American League side of Major League Baseball, Larry Doby. 62 years after their championship win, Nike is honoring the Newark Eagles in another pack of Negro League inspired sneakers.
