“Queen Victoria- Many Australians have ancestry linked to the United Kingdom, and scores of them still see the Queen as a direct/indirect symbol of their past. The Thieves- When Australia was first occupied by the British; She was a transport ground for prisoners from the Empire of the United Kingdom. The Arm & Sword was actually taken from the flag of Thomas Tew (a pirate from the 17th century), however- we altered it to a sword that was commonly known as a “Gothic Hilt” from the Victorian Era. We also incorporated a tattoo with the stars of the Southern Cross shown on the Australian flag to mirror the fact that in the past, Thieves were tattooed and branded.”
