I'm hella new to this whole photography thing. I find myself to be an artistic person and I love all that good shit like drawing and I wanted to try something new. I don't want to put down $3000 on the finest camera out right now. And I know that $100-150 won't get me a real good camera, but I wanted to know what's the best camera out right now in that range. these are some pretty sick pictures I saw browsing:

those all look like film so its good that you like them because film cameras are a lot cheaper but you have to pay to get stuff developed/printed/scanned... idk I fuck with film but lote of people are over it, anyway its a good way to learn... so for $100 to $150 I would go with a Canon AE1 or a Pentax K1000... these are older cameras and you shouldn't pay more than $60 for the bodies... this way you can get a nicer lens or a flash... these cameras also don't really have any electronics other than the light meters so the lack of automated features forces you to learn what an f-stop, aperture, and shutter speed are and how they affect your pictures... anyway thats my $.02 happy picture taking

yeah the canon ae1 is good but it's dirt cheap. if you realize photography isn't for you, it's a good investment, because i'd rather spend less than $100 for the ae1 then spend a ton of fucking money on some really complex higher end camera. but if you're not down with constantly having to develop film, just cop a d40.

by the way, who is that dude in the first picture with the red hat? he looks like this nerdy cat that nobody cared for from my neighborhood that suddenly became a hipster and knows a lot of to-know people.

lmfao.. no idea. i just saw that pic in the 35mm thread and thought it looked sick. yeah i may just get a random $100-150 camera from target or some shit and see where i end up.

Ya im in the same position. I just bought a nikon d40 on craislist but it was about 350. You might want to save up to get a better camera that will last a longer time then put out half of the money an a lesser quality camera.

I found a AE-1 for $1 this year when I went to go pick up my new lens. I could maybe give it to you if you can't find another one.

You could probably get a Canon A590IS for around $80. It's a very capable camera and gives you the option to experiment with fully manual controls.

I would go for a pentax. Not too exspensive, most kids in school's photography class use them and it's good quality.
