Neymar Jr. x Jordan Brand x Nike 2016 Summer "NJR" Collection
Merging the worlds of basketball and soccer.
Famed Brazilian soccer player Neymar Jr. has teamed up with the Jumpman, marking the first time Jordan Brand has launched a complete collection for an athlete who is not endorsed by Jordan Brand. The collaboration has been a long time coming, with the joint Air Jordan 5 as the undeniable focus. Aside from the sneaker, which you can take a closer look at here, Neymar Jr.’s collection also marks the first time the Jumpman is making an appearance on a soccer player’s performance products.
The NJR x Jordan Brand Hypervenom Boot takes inspiration from the Air Jordan 5 — Neymar Jr.’s favorite AJ style — with its recognizable fighter jet shark teeth on the front. It also reinterprets the AJ 5’s reflective tongue in the form of a bold Swoosh on the Hypervenom. Jordan Brand’s iconic Jumpman logo is plastered on the heel and upon the sole, while its laces feature the initials “DL” commemorating Neymar Jr.’s son. Finishing off the details is Neymar Jr.’s Brazil number 10, which appears on the lateral side of the left boot, and Jordan’s number 23 on the right boot. Both numbers are embroidered in the respective fonts of their jerseys. Alongside the cleats are a soccer training shoe and a full apparel collection.
“Michael Jordan set the standard for greatness,” says Neymar Jr. “He’s an incredible competitor and a champion. I’ve always admired him, so to collaborate with him and have his icon on my boots means a great deal to me.” The praise is returned from Jordan himself, who said, “I’m excited that Neymar and the Jordan Brand are working together. I’m a fan of his creativity, style and passion for the game of soccer. He’s a special player and I look forward to this collaboration.”
