Vivienne Westwood 2016 Spring/Summer Collection
Westwood uses her stage to send a strong message against climate change in the world.

Milan got a taste of Vivienne Westwood‘s male renegade with her latest collection for 2016 spring/summer. The rebellious flair and political displeasure was on show at 100 percent with the words “Politicians are CRIMINALS” blatantly printed out on garments, while “bankers,” “evil” and “criminal” were flashed continuously on screen. However, Westwood is no stranger to staging her shows as a campaign platform, opposing the establishment and accusing world leaders of climate change. This unrest and unruliness translated to her collection fully, with sullen and sallow-eyed models stomping and pounding down the runway in droves wearing distressed tops and little to nothing else. Animal prints and caveman references alluded to the idea that climate change is bringing us back to those times. However, the collection wasn’t done without some pieces that were more wearable, with trousers and pinstripe suits rounding off the show. But of course, in true Westwood style, even the wearable pieces were a strong yell against the capitalists Westwood despises.
