The Wave Cabinet Morphs Into Any Shape You Wish
Here’s to throwing out the rulebook on conventional furniture design.
Throwing out the rulebook on conventional cabinet design, the Wave Cabinet by New York artist and designer Sebastian Errazuriz completely rethinks the form and rigidity of objects to create a singularly delightful and imaginative design experience. Made out of 100 Baltic birch slats in white lacquered or unlacquered finishes, the cabinet can be pushed at any point along its length to expand and reveal its contents in fluid, fan-like motions. Says Errazuriz, “I love the idea of creating beautiful furniture; nevertheless I am much more interested in using the medium as an excuse to trigger people’s curiosity and create a connection with them.” While just a concept piece, the Wave Cabinet’s very real functionality has us yearning for it to appear in stores sometime in the near future.
