The average skier or snowboarder carries a cumbersome assortment of gadgets onto the slopes — a smartphone for communication and GPS tracking, a GoPro for video recording, headphones, etc. However, Australian tech startup Forcite has conceived an idea so simple that it’s a surprise nobody thought of it before: why can’t all of these gadgets be integrated into a single accessory, the helmet? The result is the Alpine Smart Helmet, which integrates a medley of useful features into its body, including a 4K video camera, helmet-to-helmet comms system effective up to 200 meters, 400 lumen trail lights, headphones, Bluetooth phone connectivity, all-day battery, and altitude, speed and airtime tracking. An accompanying app allows you to auto-edit your videos and share them on the Internet.
