Now valued at $159 billion USD, Google surpasses Apple as the world’s most valuable brand in 2014. Having grown by about 40% since 2013, Google tops Apple – leader of BrandZ’s poll for the last three years – by nearly $11 billion USD. It should also be said that the brainchild of the late Steve Jobs saw a decline of about 20% in its brand value from last year. There’s a lot to be said for Apple’s decline and Google’s rise, but as Oscar Yuan – VP at Millward Brown – put it, “Apple’s innovations have been more evolutionary than revolutionary.” Whereas Google has been doing just the opposite with initiatives like GoogleX, Google Glass, smartwatches and so much more. Check out Millward Brown’s annual BrandZ report here and see who else made the list.
