Today marks the unveiling of Nike’s US 2010 Home Kit, including a full range of soccer apparel for the Men’s National Team as they step up to the international stage for this summer’s World Cup in South Africa. Of course, the jerseys are the signature piece of the collection, drawing inspiration from the 1950 US Men’s National Team jerseys: as any American (or British, for that matter) soccer fan knows, 1950 marks the year when the US upset the favored English team in a landmark 1-0 victory. The 2010 design pays homage to that of 60 years prior with an iconic diagonal tonal sash, while the crest features further detailing in the form of the abbreviation ‘DTOM’ on the inside of the crest. The US National Team certainly hopes to send the message “Don’t Tread On Me” when the tournament kicks off in seven weeks.
