People, we are @ the end of an era. While this release may have been a major success for NIke, Other Nike releases simply don’t garner as much attention as they used to. Sneakers in 2010 == unfashionable. I can’t speak for places outside of New York, but as far as basketball sneakers go, they’re a big ‘no no’ now. Air Jordans are juvenile. MOVING ALONG.

this hypebeast article is VERY MISLEADING. if you follow the source links, the top photos are from an ATL Foot Locker that got robbed the night before the space jam release. they even go on to say that none of the space jam stock got into the hands of the burglars. So don’t think that people were tearing down gates and trampling people.

Facts are facts, retro jordans today are NOT made with the same quality they used to be. The fact that when these dropped originally only 10-12 people would be outside of a store compared to today 1000 people tells you that most of these people got into sneakers as a Fad not for a genuine love of the sneakers, its 100 percent hype, the only improvement on these over the 2000 version is the box, so you spent 175 dollars for a box lmfao! If you bought to flip to a sucker good for you, if you bought to keep………………………….. Whats even funnier is dudes spending more on these on ebay than the better quality 2000 versions, can’t wait for the little kids to go back to collecting pokemon cards so these brands go back to making good quality stuff.

It is from atlanta. 2 footlockers were hit on the 22nd. don’t think they even took the space jams. it was just some gang related thing, cars running into the gates, not people. They grabbed other things.

Christmas is a factor, so parents and people buying these as gifts were a demographic. OG people, ones that like jordan 11s from the movie and in the model itself that don’t keep up with any other model, came out of the woodwork for this. There is no school this whole week, which results ins the under 18 crowd camping, to guarantee their pair, came in. The hypebeast and the sneakerhead is the last 2 demographics that came into play, buying for just knowing other will have it or buying it for the sneaker love.

For people saying this is a ‘re-retro’ or ‘re-release’, this is a grey area. Technically, you are right, but in the wider view, you are wrong. The ‘space jams(because he wore these in that movie and in games that year)’ originated in 1996. The original had about less than 10 pairs, mostly made for the movie or MJ himself or friends and family even having a special TUNE SQUAD box(source quote needed).

The actual public release was in 2001, ~80% of a decade ago, thats a long time ago. The life expectancy of the shoe, if from then sneakerwise and not beat, yellowed, or possibly natural cause failure(glue drying, leather pealing, other various elements), has a low percentage of wearability or even playability(these are basketball shoes). Thats why these are partially wanted.

Jordan 11s last came out in the CDP last year, people saw how that release was, 1 of the few CDP that instantly ‘sold out’, as it was Christmas as well. This is also the first TRUE Jordan 11, not the elephant print low cut crap, that released, 1 last year and 1 this year, not 3-4-5-6 pairs once a month like other models. So the sparing releases fueled the hype.

This is the only release this year where a large amount of people bought multiple pairs as well, even as much as 10 for themselves, since when will this release again(this is because online markets know about the release schedule of next year already and people haven’t seen these ones in about a decade or so)?

This is long, but I felt like addressing things that many are uninformed about. If you don’t like the shoe, just say you don’t like it. If you like it, cop. There is no need to say why, as this brings up emotions and judgements on yourself from different viewpoints. This brings some goodness of being out in public looking for a shoe, an aspect lost for ‘sneakerhheads’.

I know these must be moderated, but the admins for this should have a zero tolerance policy for ANY racism in comments, its unneeded, especially even at Christmas and in public as a site as this.

SMH! I thought these “days” were long gone, but I digress. And to all the comments directed at “ghetto people,” take a GOOD look at the photos. I’m quite sure those lines full of people aren’t just “ghetto residents.” I stood in line for the first and only time in my life to buy Jordans, or any shoe for that matter, back in 1999 at Nike Town on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. The Air Jordan 5 retro was released that morning and I was the only so-called “minority” in line along with seven other individuals. Remember one thing people, a good majority of folks indulge in the same things in this country, e.g., alcohol, drugs, etc. Some more than others!!!
