Steering away from the grown man look this time around, Kanye West makes an appearance on the cover of Complex Magazine for their April/May issue. Taking a robotic, futuristic approach the cover features imagery co-created alongside photographer/director Chris Milk. A more in-depth look into the entire process, including the making of Nike’s Air Yeezy, can be seen here. The April/May issue of Complex is scheduled to his newsstands April 7th, 2009.

THEY ARE RELEASING THEM ON THE 4TH OF APRIL FOR 225 I ORDERDERD THE BLACK_PINK ONES …CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT I LIVE IN BELGIUM AND STILL GET TO HAVE THESE SHOES IT’S LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE….ANYWAYS I REALLY ADMIRE KANYE BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW MUTCH HE’S HATED ON HE DOES WHAT HE FEELS LIKE DOING AND THATS WHY WE ALL LOVE TO HATE HIM…

What he’s saying makes perfect sense. Kanye has reformulated himself to a point where you wouldn’t think that College Dropout and 808’s And Heartbreak were made by the same people. What he does is original, and it really seems to be more of an expression of self and environment rather than just an ego-driven mentality that he has. He’s grown a lot. He was on a bad ego trip before during that little altercation on the VMAs, but I think the death of his mother has changed things greatly, both negatively and positively.

Ima big fan of Kanye, but the Yeezys ain’t nothing special at all. I like the Black & Pink ones, but they’re not a must have. And there’s been too much hype around these shoes to release ‘em exclusively. Dats crazy!!!!!!!!!

    “I’m not ego driven”
“I’m my main project I’m working on”

    ?

kanye treats himself as a product but ppl are not merchandise.
    branding does not replace talent.

I do like the cover, the art direction is very strong and the visual result is fresh to the medium of photography.

this is so irony for me…why is white? why not black? and for these high technoligy photos…i feel nothing…technics doesn’t make the art, you need the interlectural stuff.

yo idk what these designers and clothing line dudes are thinking these days….we live in the times of the HYPEBEAST…..so lets think 4 a second….if they limit the shoe to 9000 pairs they only way for them to make a profit is to sell them for atleast $300-$400…and lets not even imagine what the RESALE PRICE is gonna be lol lol if the shoes are $150-$250 Nike just took a huge L compared to the RESALERS…the few who actually get a pair and flip them they could possibly end up making more profit than NIKE just like every other exclusive shoe thats flipped lol lol who is thinking up there??? i guess the good folks at NIKE don’t visit NIKETLK or E-bay lol lol….its sad cause they would make more money by not making it so exclusive…..in the end its just a shoe lmao

Yeezy is ok. Not the sweetest kicks to hype over. I’m I huge kanye fan but shoes are kinda weak sauce. Maybe it’s the super high top that turns into a low to mid at the back, and the colorways that have been floating around also pretty weak.

Interesting that they used a dunk platform on one of the pictured above… Already doing Yeezy hybrids in the innovative kitchen?

  13. Posted by: COmethKE on March 23, 2009 at 4:04 pm

The thing is however: 9000 overall of the 3 colors… 3000 pr color… probably 200-400 in sz 11 which gives a better sound to it..

is it me, or does the cover not even look like kanye, and those shoes are going to be hard to pull off

    Nice video..

  16. Posted by: statusdrop on March 23, 2009 at 2:35 pm

the design is garbs, but its and instant camp out, ebay shoe for sure!!

i like kanye but the shoes are dumb ugly..& what;s with the cover? Is homeboy trying to be white? im referring to the blue eyes and pale skin of course.

  18. Posted by: Willy on March 23, 2009 at 2:22 pm

    that is a dope cover

  19. Posted by: Are Oh Bee on March 23, 2009 at 2:05 pm

    @COmethKE

indeed Im mad too. Just look at it this way, the shoes are hot as shit, and we get them people will be able to say im 1 of 9000 in the country out of 300 mil to have this shoe.

Hoping the shoes are around $130-$150. if they’re $200 then I won’t be exclusive ha

ill take the prototype..better yet, let me make a shoe

  21. Posted by: Matt on March 23, 2009 at 1:57 pm

I thankfully had connections for Oakley Frogskins which were limited to 3000, but to have the Yeezy’s limited to 9,000 is going to be quite a challenge to come by :o (

Why do they do this? Nike knows they’ll sell – so why limit them. True, it sucks beyond belief, but you, nor I, is in control of that one…

  22. Posted by: leevmynameout on March 23, 2009 at 1:38 pm

I’m not mad at that. If your swagger relies on exclusives….you have none.
    Where’s my issue.

  23. Posted by: pissedoffsneakerhead on March 23, 2009 at 1:33 pm

Im still not feeling the Air Yeezy shoe. Does anyone have any pics of better colorways and different angles maybe?

The black colorway ive seen floating around looks ok, but overall the shoe just has something wrong with it. Im not sure if its the strap or what but its just not the fire that I would expect with all of this hype its getting.

Ill try the black joints if they ever really come out but overall I think Kanye needs to go back to the drawing board.

  24. Posted by: theoldgoldtooth on March 23, 2009 at 1:19 pm

    he’s still a douche

  25. Posted by: DJ Rodis on March 23, 2009 at 1:14 pm

I’m not mad one bit. That’s going to be 9000 people with some ugly shoes on.

  26. Posted by: Jason on March 23, 2009 at 12:55 pm

    Thanks for this video! Amazing…

  27. Posted by: COmethKE on March 23, 2009 at 12:55 pm

9000 pairs…Toooo many, am I the only one who’s mad?

  28. Posted by: we324545 on March 23, 2009 at 12:10 pm
