SLAM x adidas Gil II Zero

Posted by: Eugene Kan / July 11, 2008 / 7 Comments

Perennial source for basketball news, SLAM was offered up a chance of a lifetime to participate in adidas’ huge Gil II Zero collection which unfortunately hit a massive road bump when Gilbert Arenas took an injury blow last year. However, SLAM’s shoe still went through but was unfortunately not able to be worn in Arenas’ last game of the season as originally intended. With the viewing of this shoe, SLAM has also provided an in-depth description of how this sneaker came about as it features numerous details throughout which make the virtually unwearable shoe still hold a visual relationship with deep meaning. The horse-hair tiger print was inspired by Arenas’ tiger tattoo while other elements are directly SLAM related including the vision of Arenas on the sole which reflects a previous front cover shoot. These shoes will not hit any retail floor and kept exclusively as an internal release.
