Nike Hyperdunk “Marty McFly” Release

Posted by: Staff / July 01, 2008 / 24 Comments

Undefeated in Santa Monica will mark the first release location of the highly anticipated “Marty McFly” inspired Nike Hyperdunk. Featuring Nike’s newest hi-tech Flywire technology along with speckled midsoles, an amazing colorway and Back to the Future-esque badging, not to mention the glowing soles, these shoes are the total collector’s item. Along with this occasion comes a tee featuring a tribute to Kobe Bryant’s 2008 MVP season. There will also be an un-announced special guest in attendance, could it be #24 himself? Get your blankets and lawn chairs ready as this Wednesday July 2nd at 4pm marks the spot.

too much hype for hyperdunks. for the lightest basketball shoe ever these just look clumsy and bulky to me, as if their made for power forwards and centers.

What really makes me irate is how long it is taking them to release these things. I mean it has been two months since kobe jumped over the car and still no hyperdunks. The only two releases ive seen were at small stores like this where the shoes are relased in limited numbers and sell for thousands on ebay. Where the hell is the basic version on nike.com? Basketball season is pretty much over and once the olympics are over, this shoe has no market till november…

just called undftd and their saying it is gonna run $240 and they got under 100 pairs. DAMN…. NTLA says they might be getting them in sometime but as of now only UNDFTD is getting them first.

i just want them to sell them in regular stores so i can pick myself up a pair and actually wear them to play, they are just overhypin the shoe, its for basketball, its not like its for everyday kinda things, its not jordan, its not like you can wear these like you could wear a pair of jordans… then need to stop overhyping them and just sell em’ in stores everywhere like everyother shoe.

This has nothing to do w/ the hyperdunks but instead with Sarcastic619’s pathetic comment. Your jealousy amuses me. You were probably a Clippers fan the one year they were decent; everyone knows the sports fans in Boston are some of the most loyal and knowledgable in the country. I was born in 1981 and have been waiting through meaningless (to me) Red Sox celebrations to finally get to watch and remember my favorite team win a title. That being said, the fans in LA couldn’t even keep an NFL franchise, and for the largest city in the US they didn’t seem to be showing much support for the Lakers even once they made the FINALS! LA “fans” are just waiting for the next trend (another word for bandwagon) to dickride. The trendiest city can never be the realest, and these wack looking hyperdunks can stay in Cali, I second TreyMarc, “Great colorway on a HORRIBLE sneaker!”

that was the biggest bullshit ever. my crew waited all day…kobe shows up an hour late (shit was suppose to start selling at 4pm, by the time they did the raffle it was easily 7:30pm, kobe arrived in a delorean and stayed 10 minutes, fuck that dude)…when he does, everyone bum-rushes the line and faggot-ass weasels cut in line…fuck undefeated santa monica for running this unorganized, ghetto fucking operation (you could have easily remedied this mob shit by passing out numbered bracelets)…also, it seemed like they only sold like 20 pair (instead of the 100 pair, fucking undefeated hoarders, i know you mufuckas were hoarding)from my count of suckas (line-cutters) walking out with black bags…then they raffled off only 10 pair at the end, and of course some mufuckas who waited no more than 10 minutes won a pair of autographed kicks. fuck that shit, your killing the game. karma. FUCK LINECUTTER WEASELS, FUCK UNDEFEATED, FUCK PUSSY-ASS SECURITY, FUCK KOBE, FUCK NIKE.

2 1/2 days….that’s how long heads have been waiting @ house of hoops in the big apple. i was @ the undftd santa monica release and i got totally shafted. i was there for 12 hrs, i think the first cat was there for about 24 hrs. it was mad unorganized, peeps were cutting in line when kobe showed up an hour late in the delorean. twas a mess, no wristbands or anything, ridiculous. then they raffle off the last 10 pair, and of course, some people who show up 15 minutes prior win a pair. i hear it was also a bad look @ NTLA when they were passing out wristbands. peeps were getting salty, cops were by every hour. heads had to sit on the marble cause i imagine the stuffy city of beverly hills would’nt allow chairs or the appearance of camping. the hyperdunk mcfly hype has hit a critical mass, it’s hitting every hipster blog, yahoo, wired mag, news outlet, you name it. i haven’t seen this much hype since the titanium or the pigeon. i didn’t see this one coming. i don’t know how i feel about it…it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. i’m addicted to sneakers but at the same time i feel like i need to grow up and leave this bullsh*t. these kicks have hit $1,900 on ebay. that is effin madness and makes me utterly sick. people don’t get marketing. nike could have made more of these mcfly’s and they would have easily gotten consumed by all of us and would have made more money than doing a limited release…but by making them limited, it creates a buzz and hype that is utterly priceless. i wouldn’t call it genius but it’s pretty damn clever. i’m banking that the nike marketing gurus didn’t even see this one coming. i’m willing to bet that they are surprised at the level of success and buzz of this one.
