1017 ALYX 9SM Pre-Spring 2025 Is a Simple Return To Form
Offering a subtle interplay with industrial and sartorial style codes.
Matthew Williams is getting back to his baby, 1017 ALYX 9SM following his recent departure as Gienchy’s creative director – a position he held for three years. Although 1017 ALYX 9SM was still alive during Williams’ Givenchy tenure, its rhythm ebbed and flowed given the leader’s split time. Now with Williams shifting focus back to his signature label, it’s time for a cleanse. So for the Pre-Spring 2025 season, the brand showcases a simple return to form.
Given the new offering, is a pre-season, transitional wardrobe, it’s already a bit calmer by definition. But that simultaneously makes it a great opportunity to reinstitute some of the brand’s signature codes, in the truest and most paired-down form. Since its 2015 creation, the brand has retained an industrial, street-leaning and modernist core – always remaining true to its subversive culture lens. With the new Pre-Spring 2025 collection, that is still true. However, the wardrobe harbors a slightly minimalist personality.
Inside the collection, core garments like jackets, button-down tops and even vests are crafted with sharp-clean lines – offering a sartorial edge. But the balance comes into play when select pants, denim and ripstop fabric cargo pants are visualized with straight, yet ruched alongside relaxed constructions. Whether it be a camo jacket, classic MA-1 jacket or even deep indo denim, the collection’s subtle interplay with texture, shape and volume is what directly ties into the core 1017 ALYX 9SM themes.
