Dries Van Noten Is Stepping Down From His Eponymous Label

The Belgian designer will show his final collection for the House at Paris Fashion Week Men’s in June.

Celebrated Belgian designer Dries Van Noten has announced that he will step down as Creative Director after 38 years at the helm of his eponymous label.

Dries Van Noten confirmed the news to WWD this morning, sending shock waves across the globe. The co-ed designer will officially exit his role in June, showing his final collection for the House at Paris Fashion Week Men’s for Spring/Summer 2025. The internal design team will take the lead for now, crafting the SS25 womenswear collection to be revealed in September.

“In due time, we will announce the designer who will continue the story,” the designer said to WWD. “I have been preparing for this moment for a while, and I feel it’s time to leave room for a new generation of talents to bring their vision to the brand.” [The next Dries Van Noten women's collection] “will be made by my studio team with whom I have been working very closely during all these years. I have full confidence that they will do a great job,” Van Noten continued. “In due time, we will announce the designer who will continue the story. However, I will stay involved in the house that I treasure so much.”

While the designer will remain active with in-house operations, Dries Van Noten will enter a new era this summer. The brand was founded in 1986, calling Antwerp its home before its Paris Fashion Week debut in Spring/Summer 1992. Dries Van Noten has become synonymous with bold prints and patterns, grounding itself in exotic silhouettes that make a clear statement.

A majority stake in the brand was sold to Puig in 2018, which also manages the likes of Rabanne, Jean Paul Gaultier, Byredo, and more. Puig will guide Dries Van Noten’s into its new beginning without losing sight of the designer’s reputable 38-year legacy. “It is a distinct honor for Puig to now be entrusted with carrying his legacy into the future, and a unique responsibility we will treasure as a new and exciting chapter opens for both Dries and the brand,” concluded Marc Puig, chairman and chief executive officer of Puig to WWD.
