Seiko Expands on Its Save the Ocean Initiative With a Limited-Edition Prospex GMT
Spotlighting a glacier-inspired textured dial.
The Seiko Prospex SPB439 is the latest iteration of the 1968 Diver’s Re-interpretation GMT. Unveiled as a limited edition for Seiko’s Save the Ocean initiative, the new time-teller sports a lustrous textured dial that references a glacial landscape.
Attired in a 42mm stainless steel case, the reference is accompanied by a black bezel for a striking color contrast that also highlights the luster and allure of its dial. Doused in a silvery white, the dial features a textured design that emulates the appearance of ice glaciers. This is complemented by tonal indices and hour-minute hands that are filled with Lumibrite to ensure readability even in dark environments.
On a technical note, the timepiece is geared with 72 hours of power reserve, running on the a manual-winding and automatic 6R54 caliber. Elsewhere, its caseback features an engraved emblem and its unique batch number. Completing the watch’s sleek and icy appeal is a stainless steel Oyster style bracelet.
Priced at £1,600 GBP (approximately $2,036 USD), the SPB439 Save the Ocean timepiece is available via Seiko in a limited run of 1,500 examples.
