Rolex has officially unveiled the Perpetual Padellone, marking a major expansion to its modern Perpetual collection, following the previous debut of the 1908 line back in 2023. Drawing direct inspiration from the historic reference 8171 – affectionately nicknamed “Padellone” by collectors during its late 1940s to 1950s production run – the new release brings an instantaneous complete annual calendar into Rolex’s dress-watch lineage.

Housed in a refined 39mm case measuring 12.20mm thick, the timepiece features a dual-finished bezel – domed on top, fluted below – and caseback correctors to adjust calendar functions. The dial pairs a grained central finish with a fine satin-finished outer ring, displaying English day and month apertures at 12 o’clock, a blue-coated central hand pointing to the date periphery, and a blue enamelled moonphase disk at 6 o’clock with meteorite full and new moons.

Underneath the sapphire caseback beats the newly developed in-house Calibre 7190, an automatic movement operating at a high frequency of 36,000 vph with a 66-hour power reserve. Protected by 30 patent applications, the calibre incorporates Rolex’s silicon Dynapulse escapement, a thick-coiled Syloxi hairspring, and a high-tech ceramic balance staff for magnetic resistance. Its annual calendar mechanism relies on the newly patented Haplos system, which comprises just an additional carrier finger and an annual lever, allowing the watch to automatically distinguish between 30- and 31-day months so it only requires correction once a year when February transitions to March. Another notable feature is that all three calendar indications (day, date, and month) jump simultaneously at midnight in a fraction of a second.

Retailing between $59,000 USD and $72,800 USD, the Perpetual Padellone is introduced in three distinct configurations. Two versions are crafted in 18-carat Everose gold with an intense white grained dial; one is fitted on a seven-link Everose gold Settimo bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp, while the other comes on a matt brown alligator leather strap with a gold Dualclasp. A third execution comes in 950 platinum featuring a signature ice blue dial paired with a matt black alligator leather strap and platinum Dualclasp. All references carry Rolex’s updated 2026 Superlative Chronometer certification – which includes new testing criteria for magnetism, reliability and sustainability – yielding an accuracy tolerance of −2/+2 seconds per day.

Visit Rolex’s official webstore for more information and inquire at the brand’s official boutiques and authorized dealers for the watches’ availability.
