Description

Masaya Kuroki is the co-founder of fashion imprint and record label Maison Kitsuné. After moving to Paris at age 12, Kuroki went on to study architecture at university before working under the tutelage of one France’s leading architects, Jean Nouvel. During that period he also worked part-time at a vintage store which neighbored the record store that his soon-to-be business partner Gildas Loaëc was also employed by. The two soon struck up a friendship, and after a mutual recognition of the intertwining worlds of fashion and music, they came up with the idea to combine both entities into one brand. An early exposure to French styles during his adolescence helped Kuroki to gain a deeper understanding of the Parisian aesthetic, which is still at the forefront of Kitsuné’s garments today. With the help of Loaëc’s experience and association in the music scene, Maison Kitsuné has established itself as a truly unique brand in unlike any other today.
