Netflix has officially unveiled the date announcement trailer for the highly anticipated second season of its Emmy-winning animated series, Blue Eye Samurai. Created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, the animated hit will return globally on January 19, 2027, with a six-episode run.
The newly released teaser trailer serves as a visceral recap of Mizu’s violent journey while setting a dark, atmospheric tone for her next chapter. The striking footage highlights the series’ gorgeous, stylized 3D animation, featuring rapid flashes of brutal sword clashes, intense standoffs, and the fiery destruction Mizu left in her wake.
The new season picks up where the Emmy-winning first season ended, with Mizu, the mixed-race swordmaster voiced by Maya Erskine, sailing for London to track down the two remaining men who could be her father. Brenda Song, Darren Barnet and Masi Oka return as Akemi, Taigen and Ringo. New voices include Jonathan Pryce as Old Violet, Joel Kim Booster as Priest Ando and Sherry Cola as Kuma. Behind the scenes, Noizumi and Green executive produce alongside Erwin Stoff, with Jane Wu as supervising director and producer, and Blue Spirit handles the animation. The season took three years to make, and it won’t be the last: the series will wrap up with a final chapter in 2028.
