Champion‘s iconic Reverse Weave sweatshirt gets a rebellious makeover as the American sportswear label joins forces with WACKO MARIA for their first collaborative capsule.
The collaboration centers on Reverse Weave, Champion’s signature construction method developed in the 1930s to minimize shrinkage by cutting fleece fabric horizontally rather than vertically. Reinforced with expansion gussets along the sides, the technique has become synonymous with the brand’s durable sweatshirts, providing a familiar foundation for WACKO MARIA’s more graphic-driven aesthetic.
The five-style capsule comprises a crewneck sweatshirt, two pullover hoodies, a full-zip hoodie and matching sweatpants, all constructed from heavyweight 11.5 oz cotton-blend terry fleece. Leading the assortment is a crewneck featuring subtle embroidery at the chest and a striking back graphic created by tattoo artist TIM LEHI, a longtime collaborator of WACKO MARIA. Available in Silver Grey, Black, Amber Brown, Light Blue and Light Pink, the piece introduces the broadest color palette of the collection.
The remaining styles adopt a more restrained Silver Grey and Black offering, allowing their contrasting graphics to take center stage. One pullover hoodie displays an oversized WACKO MARIA graphic across the front, while another pairs co-branded chest embroidery with a prominent “Wacko Maria Paradise” print on the back. The full-zip hoodie follows a similar design language with a bold rear graphic, complemented by relaxed sweatpants featuring embroidered branding at the thigh and ribbed cuffs. Across the range, WACKO MARIA’s original patterns and Champion’s archival-inspired blue single-color neck labels, referencing its 1970s designs, add further character to the familiar athletic silhouettes.
The WACKO MARIA x Champion Reverse Weave collection is scheduled to launch on October 31, 2026, at 12 p.m. JST through Champion’s official Japanese online store, Champion Harajuku and Champion Brand House Shinsaibashi Osaka, alongside WACKO MARIA’s own stores, online platform and select retailers.
