Nike’s “Plaid Pack” Dresses Four Classics in Red Tartan

Nike brings a cold-weather twist to four women’s classics with its new “Plaid Pack,” comprising the Air Force 1 Low, Air Max 90, Air Max Plus and Shox TL. A red tartan pattern – woven with black, white and touches of yellow – runs throughout the collection, set against predominantly black foundations for a distinctly autumnal, punk-leaning effect. The Air Force 1 Low “Black/Tough Red/White/Black” takes the most restrained approach, using smooth black leather across the toe, eyestays and Swoosh while inserting plaid textile into the quarter panels and heel tab, all grounded by a completely black sole unit.
The Air Max 90 “Black/Tough Red/Yellow Ochre/Team Red” adds more material contrast, combining black mesh and fuzzy suede-like overlays with deep Team Red TPU eyelets and Swooshes; tartan appears prominently around the collar and rear, bringing pattern into the silhouette without overwhelming its familiar layered construction.
The Air Max Plus “Tough Red/White/Yellow Ochre/Black” pushes the plaid motif furthest, wrapping much of the upper in red tartan beneath its signature black TPU cage. Glossy black mudguards and sculpted black Air tooling give the pair a harder technical edge, while small Yellow Ochre details on the outsole add an unexpected warm accent beneath the otherwise dark build.
Meanwhile, the Shox TL “Black/Tough Red/Yellow Ochre/Black” uses the same plaid textile beneath a black skeletal cage, paired with glossy black Shox columns and a dark leather heel for the most overtly Y2K treatment of the four. Together, the pack balances collegiate tartan with Nike’s archival sportswear shapes, giving each model a different ratio of pattern, texture and blacked-out hardware.
